A Successful Completion of Addressing Education in Northeast Nigeria
On the 9th of September 20, 2021, we marked the successful completion of Addressing Education in Northeast Nigeria (AENN), a project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The event was held physically at Sheraton Hotel and Suites, Abuja, and also streamed virtually with distinguished guests in attendance from around the world.
The three-year programme created and maintained a new non-formal and safer formal education, while laying a foundation for increasing the capacity of education actors for sustainable, conflict-sensitive improvement of education systems at the national, state, and local levels.
The AENN team facilitated community-led action planning to identify barriers to education and implement solutions. AENN also worked to harmonize curriculum quality and certification frameworks to improve transition pathways from Non-Formal to Formal education systems.

One of the highlights of the event was listening to student’s testimonies who benefited from the project and seeing how the project improved the literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional skills of nearly 200,000 out-of-school children in formal and non-formal settings.
