DATA VISUALIZATION TRAINING FOR STATE AIDS AND STI CONTROL PROGRAM (SASCP) STAFF ACROSS 36 + 1 STATES

DATA VISUALIZATION TRAINING FOR STATE AIDS AND STI CONTROL PROGRAM (SASCP) STAFF ACROSS 36 + 1 STATES.

GLOBAL FUND TQLA TA for PMTCT

With the Global Fund resources, FHI 360 catalyzed the National AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Infections Control and Hepatitis Programme (NASCP) and their state-level counterparts to leverage financial and programmatic data to drive the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmissions (PMTCT) scale-up plan implementation in Nigeria. The project strengthened the program managers’ capacity to use financial and program data to facilitate dialogues among teams in areas of greater impact, make decisions to inform performance improvement and facilitate corrective actions.

With this objective in mind, FHI 360 and NASCP jointly planned and conducted a comprehensive training program for the State AIDS and STI Control Programme (SASCP) staff including the State AIDS Programme Coordinators (SAPCs), PMTCT focal persons, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) Officers from the 36 states and the FCT. The training program was designed to:

  1. Develop a solid understanding of data visualization principles, techniques, and best practices.
  2. Equip participants with technical skills to create visually appealing and informative data visualization.
  3. Triangulate program and financial data, to support areas of greater impact.
  4. Enable participants to select appropriate data visualization types for different types of data and analytical goals.
  5. Use financial data to make decisions, take corrective actions, and inform program performance improvement.
  6. Enhance participants’ ability to critically evaluate and interpret data visualizations.
  7. Utilize effective M&E strategies for program outcomes.
  8. Promote effective communication of data-driven insights to diverse audiences.

Four batches of training were conducted between October 30 and November 29, 2023, for 117 participants including FHI 360 staff.

The preliminary analysis and the post-training evaluation showed an improvement in participants’ capacity to analyze, interpret, and develop data visualization dashboards to facilitate dialogue among teams. In conclusion, the data visualization training program successfully achieved its objectives, strengthening participants’ effective data management and analysis skills.
