MOSAIC Supports the Update of the Nigeria National PrEP Training Curriculum to include CAB-LA and the conduct of a National Master Training of Trainers (ToT)
A MOSAIC SUCCESS STORY
Forty-eight participants took part in the effort, representing key stakeholders from the federal MOH, Lagos State MOH, National Agency for the Control of AIDS, PEPFAR, National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control, Global Fund, Key Populations Secretariat, civil society organizations, and implementing partners.
This review was built upon feedback from stakeholders garnered during the interagency pilot Training of Trainers supported by MOSAIC last month, which helped in the adaptation of the global JHPIEGO/RISE CAB training materials to the Nigerian context. Some resources from ICAP’s PrEP training modules were also adapted for use. The updated curriculum also includes updates on oral PrEP aligned with the forthcoming updated national HIV PCT guidelines. Additionally, new modules on Pharmacovigilance and Supply Chain Management were added based on stakeholder input.
Following this, the updated PrEP training curriculum was used to conduct a master training of trainers (ToT) from 27th – 31st May, in preparation for the upcoming CAB pilot in Nigeria. MOSAIC also funded and provided technical support for this master ToT, which convened around 70 participants, including key stakeholders and master trainers, with a focus on the proposed CAB-LA pilot sites. The training emphasized updates on Oral PrEP, introduced CAB-LA, and provided guidance for service delivery in line with the updated National HIV PCT guideline, which includes guidance for CAB-LA for PrEP in Nigeria.
