International Youth Day – MOSAIC

International Youth Day - MOSAIC

In commemoration of International Youth Day, the Maximizing Options to Advance Informed Choice for HIV Prevention (MOSAIC) project funded by PEPFAR/USAID reaffirms its commitment to expanding access and choice for HIV prevention, particularly among young people in Nigeria. Recognizing the critical role that youth play in shaping the future of HIV prevention, MOSAIC is conducting an exploratory study to understand the preferences and perceived barriers to accessing HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) services among young people aged 18-29 years.

This study is being carried out across USAID-supported facilities and community outreach platforms in seven states: Abuja-Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Niger, Akwa Ibom, Lagos, Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe.

To ensure the effectiveness of the survey tools, the MOSAIC team conducted a pre-test with 34 participants aged 18-29 from youth-friendly club networks in Abuja.

The young people found the questions clear and direct, with a preference for the online survey format over the paper-based option. Insights from this pre-test were used to refine the survey tools, which were officially rolled out on August 5, 2024.

As we honor International Youth Day, FHI 360’s MOSAIC celebrates the voices and contributions of young people in the fight against HIV, and we remain dedicated to ensuring that their perspectives drive the development and implementation of effective #HIV prevention strategies.
