FHI 360 kicked \u2013 off the Integrated Multisectoral Assistance for Conflict-Affected Vulnerable Populations in Greater Maiduguri project funded by USAID\u2019s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) on Tuesday, 16th August 2022. The project is a two (2) year project funded by USAID\/BHA and implemented through a consortium led by Save the Children.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The one-day event commenced with an opening remark by the Crisis Response Coordinator, Mr. Elvis Ogweno, he welcomed and applauded the team for a job well done in ensuring the kick-off of the project, also urged the team to ensure the project delivers on its mandate to improve the lives of the affected population. He reiterated the need to strengthen local collaboration to ensure ownership and sustainability by working and building the capacity of national NGOs and the communities involved in implementing the project.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Various stakeholders, including Senior Consortium\/Nutrition Coordinator Balkisu Akande, the MEAL specialist Charles Okoro, a representative from the UNFPA, Chukwuemeka Kelvin, a representative from WHO, and Oluwafemi Ooju, were among others present at the event. The stakeholders took turns showering goodwill messages and hoping for better collaboration as the project rolls out.<\/p>

Project Goal:<\/strong>\u00a0To meet the immediate basic needs of newly displaced households and ensure vulnerable families have access to survival Food, Shelter, Shelter & Settlement Non-food Items (NFIs), and Clean Water; while receiving health, nutrition, and protection services needed to survive and be protected.<\/p>

Health Objective:<\/strong>\u00a0To improve access to quality and life-saving health interventions to meet the health needs of the target populations. And ensuring access to water, sanitation, and hygiene services to support the prevention and treatment of severe acute malnutrition (SAM) and cholera outbreaks.<\/p>

Implementing partners:<\/strong>\u00a0 Save the Children (Lead), FHI 360, Green Code, and EYN.<\/p>

Other Partners:<\/strong>\u00a0Ministry of Health (MOH), Borno State Primary Healthcare development agency (SPHCDA), MMC local Health Authority, Primary healthcare facilities, and community leaders.<\/p>
